Rocio Hernandez is a first-gen at Cal State La. Rocio lives in East LA but was born in El Salvador. Rocío’s aunt photographed the first years of their life with a camera to send to their mother who was in the US. They grew up in front of a lens and eventually those pictures have served them to remember their childhood.

Growing up in the US, they loved taking pictures. As they have gotten older, they understand pictures help us capture a memory or person we want to have a memory of. Having done Digital Promotoras, Rocío understands that photography can be used to advocate for issues that are important to them or people around them. A picture is in fact worth a thousand words.

Rocio plans to travel and take pictures of the world when they are given the opportunity. They are enthusiastic about learning and improving their photography techniques.
